RONE AWARDS VOTING

***Week Five Voting Starts Today***

I was so honored when I got word that Raven's Breath had been nominated for a RONE Award this year. While I do hope that I receive some votes, it's truly been humbling to have even made the list, since there are requirements involved. Here's the breakdown! (Source: InDtale.com)

RONE (Reward Of Novel Excellence) Awards:
Each year InD’tale Magazine honors the very best books in the Indie and Small publishing industry by awarding the prestigious RONE award.  To achieve this award, a book  must go through the most comprehensive process in the industry today, with three distinct areas of focus.
  1. All books in each given year (January 1st - December 31st) must have been read and reviewed by our professional staff of reviewers and be given a four star rating or higher to qualify as a nominee.
  2. All nominees must then be voted on by the reading public.  The books with the highest number of public votes will progress on to become finalists.
  3. The finalists will then be read by a group of industry professionals consisting of editors, writers, professors etc. and be judged on a one to five scale from a specific list of requirements such as characterization, overall arc, editing etc.   Those scores will then be tallied by a professional company unrelated to InD’tale or its employees to determine the winner of the coveted RONE award, along with the honorable mentions.
All awards are announced at the annual RONE award gala event and ceremony and given the beautiful Crystal RONE award. This is a formal but extremely fun and entertaining night for all, one that truly honors all Indie and Small published authors, readers and professionals!
OMG...I can't wait!
I hope you'll consider giving Raven's Breath a vote!
XOXO

Welcome to the Read 'Em & REAP Blog Hop!!

Find out what draws us ~Grim~ Authors to the write about the reapers we love, and enter to win a bunch of great prizes along the way!

Let's get started, shall we...

1.  What first piqued your interest in writing about reapers?

My book, RAVEN'S BREATH, was inspired by my cover designer, Regina Wamba.
The pre-made she had available (which is now the front of Raven's Breath) spoke to
me and I instantly knew I wanted to write about a Grim Reaper who could suck the
life from you as part of her job. (The souls resemble the inky wisps on the cover.)

2.       What makes your reapers different?

Besides the fact that Raven is the first FEMALE grim reaper in history, it's the extra
abilities she possesses that not only allow her to siphon the life from you, but also
save you, given the right circumstances.

3.        Are your reapers Heroes or Villains?

Heroes all the way! Well, except that one...

The Women of Purgatory:  A new adult Urban Fantasy series, featuring three bad-ass women who leave their mark on Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell.

Will she be your Grim Reaper or your Saving Grace?

Raven can breathe life into you, or siphon the life from you...the choice is yours.

Big News

It's Official!!!

I've done lost my mind...

I have to apologize for my extended absence since Raven's Breath release, but my brain has been churning and I've had to make a lot of changes to my upcoming release schedule because of it.

As some of you may know, my next book scheduled to release is Queen of The Witches, Ovialell book #2, however, after introducing Raven to the world, I received a lot of feedback stating that people would LOVE to see more of Raven and her story. So, after multiple brainstorming meetings with Sharon from ALP, and looking at what other books I had coming up, a very interesting thing started to happen.

Basically, Dark Abigail strolled in, surrounded by fog and gathering tree branches and said, "This is where I belong!"

So...with a little bit of magic from my cover artist, Emma Michaels, Dark Abigail will now be book #2 in The Women of Purgatory series.

Oh, but wait! That's not all!!!

Holli, stomped in next and demanded that she get her own book as well, so that's right...there will be three total. So let's recap...

INTRODUCING:

The Women of Purgatory Trilogy:

Raven's Breath ~ Book #1 (Available now)

Dark Abigail ~ Book #2 (Coming soon)

and

Holli's Hellfire ~ Book #3 (Coming soon)

I hope you're all as excited as I'm am for some bad-ass women to put their mark on Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell.

As a side note, Queen of The Witches is still being worked on, as well as my contemporary romance series, The Flower Girls trilogy. So, if at any point you think to yourself, "I wonder what happened to Tish Thawer?"...This pretty much sums it up! :)

Raven's Breath New Release Date

**Official Announcement**

Hey guys! I'm here to report that the Raven's Breath official release date has been bumped to April 15, 2014, which is only 18 days away!

My intended release date was for 3/31/14, however, Spring Break arrived, and I ran away with the kids to spend some much needed time at the beach! :D

The team at Amber Leaf Publishing always puts family first, and in this case, there was no exception. I'm so grateful to have such an amazing group of people to work with, who always support me and understand the life of a busy mom.

In the mean time, here is a short teaser to hold you over.

Also, look for another giveaway soon, as I'll be offering up multiple signed paperbacks to win.

Thanks for your patience, and continued support!

~ Excerpt ~

Death's firm gripped settled on my arm. His jaw clenched, then he and Holli disappeared. Wow. Guess I won't be getting an answer.
I shook my head and took to the sky, finally heading home for the night. As I neared my apartment, I saw Garrett rushing up to the main door of my building. I adjusted my trajectory and touched down gently behind him.
"Hey! Fancy meeting you here."
"Actually, it's not fancy at all.” His intensity shook me. “I need to talk to you."
"What's wrong?"
"Let's get inside." He ushered me into the building and up the stairs to my apartment with the urgency of an undercover spy on a mission.
I flipped the lock. He unceremoniously pushed me inside then slammed the door, spun me around, and pressed my back against it.
"What are you doing?" I demanded.
“I need to check for something." He brushed the hair away from my ears then turned my head from side to side. This is awkward. "Garrett, seriously, what the hell is this about?"
"Not Hell."
"What?"
"Hold still." The edge of panic in his voice had my heart racing. He continued to run his thumb over the smooth skin behind my ears and down each side of my neck. "Oh my god, he was right," Garrett breathed.
I'd had enough. I pushed him off with enough force to carry him away from me. "What are you talking about?"
"You've been marked, Raven."
I stared at Garrett like he was an idiot, but it was I who was completely clueless. "Marked? By what? What do you mean?"
"I mean..." He grabbed my arm and pulled me to the mirror hanging next to the front door.
"...Heaven has marked you.”

Teaser Tuesday

Usually, I do not participate in Teaser Tuesday, because I'm not really a fan of teasers...like, I seriously HATE sharing anything from a new book until it's completely finished. But, since I'm so in love with Raven and her story, I thought I'd give in and give you a small taste!

Since I've shared the prologue before, below you will find Chapter One of
RAVEN'S BREATH, with a link back to the prologue as well.

Happy reading!

 ~ ONE ~

After guiding the man to the pearly gates, I returned to the earthly plane and flew to the highest point of the Holy Cross Cemetery. It was the oldest and largest in the "city of cemeteries," Colma, California, located just south of San Francisco. I tucked my wings into my back as the heels of my boots sank into the dirt that surrounded the large mausoleum atop the hill. The name over the ornate stone entrance read Richard Payman, Born 1892 - Died 1962. I placed my hand on the door's handle and the letters R. and P. became highlighted. I smiled as the numbers shifted and transformed into the sum of their total; 1+8+9+2+1+9+6+2, equaling 38. In other words...Reaper Portal, Thirty-eight.

There were thousands of portals, each one located in a cemetery tomb that read Richard Payman, Born "something" – Died "something else," to indicate which location you were entering.

The seam of the stone door glowed blue before opening to reveal the shimmering orb waiting within. If a human opened this door, however, all they would see was a stone sarcophagus holding Mr. Payman's remains.

The portals were the only entrance to our world; the world of Death and his Reapers, a.k.a. Purgatory. I stepped through and the city greeted me, extending as far as the eye could see. A wide expanse of dark stone buildings and gothic turrets dotted the light gray sky as inky black tendrils swirled and floated through the air.

The black smoke-like wisps were the souls that refused to move on––the wraiths. When a soul tried to flee, they would instead "stick" to the Reapers until we returned to Purgatory, then get sucked into the sky to wander aimless for all eternity.

I flew towards the main building, hoping to check-in and be done before I started my long weekend. When I touched down on the slate steps, I took a moment to compose myself before entering the massive castle. At present, I was the only female Reaper in Death's employ, but according to rumors, I didn't know how long that would be the case. It didn't surprise me; I'd been a huge help in lowering the numbers of lost souls, but to be honest, I wasn't sure if I wanted to share the title of "one and only."

"Good evening, Raven. How are you?" Death asked, polite as always.

All Reapers worked for Death, but I doubted anyone in Purgatory actually liked being in his presence. My eyes were drawn to his long bony fingers as they wrapped a staccato beat against the round heads that made up the armrests of his creepy skull throne.

"I'm great, thank you. I was just checking-in before I headed home."

"Of course, and while I always enjoy seeing you, you shouldn't feel required to check-in with me. Your numbers are consistent and you haven't let me down yet."

His words carried an edge that left me worried I'd somehow done exactly that. I swallowed hard against the lump in my throat, then nodded and turned away.

"Raven, a quick question before you leave?"

My head dropped ever so slightly as a puff of breath escaped my lips. So much for a quick escape. I slowly turned around with a smile plastered on my face.

"Sure. What's up?"

"I've been wondering how you'd feel about sharing the spotlight? I'm thinking about bringing on another female Reaper, since you've proven to be such a valuable asset." His leer made my skin crawl. "But of course, I wanted to talk to you first before I made my final decision."

Ha! Like he gave a damn what I thought. He'd do whatever he wanted and I knew without a doubt, this was just his way of watching me squirm.

My smile never faded as I tossed my hair over my shoulder. "Actually, I think that's a great idea. I've been playing clean up for so long, it might be nice to have a little help around here."

Hmph. I don't squirm.

Thank you so much for stopping by for Teaser Tuesday. If you haven't had a chance to read the prologue yet, you can follow the link below to find the dramatic beginning to Raven's story.

Just saying "HI!"

It's been a while since I've posted, well...anything! So I thought I'd take a minute to just say "Hi," and to give you guys a little update of what's been happening in my neck of the woods.

Death of a Black Rose
(Book #3 in The Rose Trilogy)

Don't worry, the final book in the series IS in process, but because I've had other stories that have crept into my head and onto my publisher's desk, I've been pulled in many different directions. So, at the moment, I do not have a release date for DOBR, but it IS coming soon.

My next book releasing from Amber Leaf Publishing is, Behind the Veil of Ovialell. (Cover reveal coming soon!)

This omnibus will include all three short-story companions in print and eBook formats: Prophecy's Child, The Rise of Rae (originally published in the anthology Christmas Lites II), and Shay and the Box of Nye. Look for it in May 2013.

Raven's Breath is next on the docket.

A new urban fantasy stand alone novel, coming this winter.

Raven can breathe life into you, or suck the life from you...the choice is yours!

They say your life flashes before your eyes when you die. But what you didn't know...your last thoughts determine whether Raven becomes your Grim Reaper or your Saving Grace.

And...last but not least, Dark Abigail, coming in 2014. (Cover reveal coming soon!)

A new urban fantasy stand alone novel.

After making a deal with the devil, Abigail becomes his personal assassin. But like all deals made with demons, there’s a catch. The devil has his own plans for Abi, plans which include twisting and changing her to suit his personal desires.

Abi excels at her new job. The sight of her strikes fear in all whom she targets, but she quickly learns that being good at her job isn't something to be proud of. Instead, it's something to fear.

Will Abi be able to fight the evil growing within her, or will she embrace the fact that she truly is the perfect dark assassin?

Hope this gives you guys something to look forward to. Now, it's back to work for me! "Bye!"

Cover Reveal

Here it is!! My newest cover ~ RAVEN'S BREATH

This book was completely inspired by the beautiful pre-made cover that my cover artist, Regina Wamba, designed. After being the lucky recipient of said cover, I thought of an amazing tale about Raven, the first female Grim Reaper in history.

Raven's Breath - Coming, winter 2013. I can't wait to share it with you all!
